Covid-19 Dashboard displays current case data and relative case severity for 32 countries on a world map.

Illuminated indicators display the current virus and response state.

The world map displays relative confirmed case numbers among 32 countries where the brighter the LED indicator the greater amount of confirmed cases. The image above indicates highest confirmed cases in the US, Russia, Brazil, and South Africa.

Covid-19 Dashboard’s animate mode updates the display day by day starting from the first days of the pandemic in February 2020 to the current date. The video above demonstrates the animate mode. The world map LEDs illuminate upon the country’s first official confirmed case.

Covid-19 Dashboard’s frame is constructed from 2020 aluminum extrusions allowing for a rigid frame with multiple mounting points for various brackets.

The ESP32 microcontroller creates a Wi-Fi connection to CovidAPI which provides a generously free API to the John Hopkins University Covid-19 data set.

The 32 world map LEDs are driven by two 16 PWM channel PCA9685 controllers over I2C.

AutoCAD was used to layout and create the dashboard’s various mounting plates and engravings. The acrylic front panel, illuminated indicator plates, and wood brackets are cut using a 40w CO2 laser engraver.

Indicator housings, LCD mounts, and various brackets were design in TinkerCAD and 3D printed in black PLA.
